Giving Projects

We have four major areas of support in Tigard-Tualatin and Sherwood districts:
  • Literacy  - funds Oregon Battle of the Books, Dictionaries for 3rd graders, and Little Free Libraries
  • Financial Aid - funds scholarships to Oregon Education college students
  • Music and Arts - funds elementary teachers' requests for supplies or equipment not provided by district funding
  • Mini Grants - funds supplies or equipment requested by high school and middle school teachers

Literacy Projects
​Budget: $3000

Our projects include
  • Donating two full sets of the Oregon Battle of the Books (16 novels) yearly for each middle school in Tigard Tualatin and Sherwood for their OBOB teams
  • Presenting dictionaries yearly to each third grader in Sherwood as part of the national Dictionary Project
  • Creating and maintaining Little Free Library Branch #18555 near Metzger Elementary and the Bethlehem House of Bread food pantry and community garden. The original structure and the current LFL were constructed by Sherwood High School students.

Financial Award Recipients
Budget: ​$10,000

This category is all about scholarships to college and university students who are training to be teachers in Oregon, and are attending an Oregon university with an accredited education program.  Since 1994 we have awarded over $120,000!

Music and Arts
​Budget: $2550

 Mini Grants
​Budget: $3500
​This money goes to elementary teacher in Tigard-Tualatin and Sherwood to provide or enhance supplies and equipment for music and art projects that may not otherwise be funded.
​Mini Grants go to high school and middle school teachers to empower them to teach richer and more exciting lessons with materials and supplies in any subject matter with things that are not covered by the district budget.
